Being in Scotland again was wonderful! Driving around on our own was fun and incredibly easy, though at times hair-raising if we met an oncoming lorry on a narrow two-lane road. Fortunately, those encounters were rare. It was springtime in the Highlands and everything was either green or blooming. Lamb twins bounced around their mothers in the fields, yet snow still capped the tops of the Munros.
The vistas would steal your breath. I’ll share some of my photos in this and several following posts, so check back often to see what I’ve added!
As you can tell from these pictures from our first afternoon, the weather was changeable, but we never let a quick shower deter us. There was too much to see and do!
I’m so excited! Today is Release Day for the new AmazonEncore-published versions of Highland Healer and Highland Seer! Full of romance, adventure, men in kilts and women with very special talents, not a word has been changed. Just the covers, and the publisher, of course. Read a description and excerpt for Highland Healer here, and for Highland Seer here.
If you don’t have your copies yet, this is great news, because they’re now available at a lower price: $3.99! Get yours today!
I’ve just entered a new chapter in my publishing career! Amazon Publishing bought the rights to Highland Healer and Highland Seer from The Wild Rose Press, and will release them on 31 March under Amazon Publishing’s AmazonEncore imprint. Prior to that date, they are available for preorder.
I’m thrilled to be under contract with this publishing powerhouse. This will mean some changes, of course–good ones. Along with Amazon’s promotional reach, the most visible change is that my first two books are now sporting fabulous new covers!
Available in print and on Kindle exclusively from Amazon, Highland Healer and Highland Seer have not been modified in any way other than the new covers. The audiobook versions are still available from Amazon, Audible.com and Tantor.
I’m thrilled to join Amazon Publishing’s exclusive family of authors. And I’m eternally grateful to The Wild Rose Press, not only for making this new arrangement possible, but for buying Highland Healer three years ago, launching my career as a debut published author. I look forward to continuing my long and successful association with The Wild Rose Press, and to my new relationship with Amazon Publishing.
I’m now a hybrid, multi-published, multi-publisher author. Wow.
Sunday night, we celebrate Robert Burns. Typically, the highlights of the evening include the formal recitation of his “Address to a Haggis,” the presentation of the “Great chieftain o’ the puddin-race!” and whisky. Check out a video HERE.
Join me at a Facebook party with 17 Best Selling Authors of Scottish Romance and our MC for the event, Debbie McCreary, on Sunday, Jan 25th, for some fun and giveaways. This is a Ceilidh you won’t want to miss.

Hogmanay, a word derived from the old Norse language, became the major winter celebration once the Reformation outlawed Christmas in 16th century Scotland. Hogmanay remains a huge party to this day, though the prohibition against celebrating Yule was lifted in the 1950s.
For many, this part of mid-winter is also a time to pause and reflect on the waning year and on plans and goals for the coming year. In the darkest days of winter, it’s refreshing to turn our attention to new starts, opportunities and possibilities.
I’ve had a great year writing and releasing two new titles, and spending time with friends old and new. I’ll be thrilled if the new year brings more of the same for me and whatever you wish for to all of you.
Wherever you are, whatever your celebratory spirit of choice this evening, I wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
On my trip to Scotland last month, we stayed a couple of days on the incredibly romantic and beautiful Loch Lomond. Right away, we got to do a wee cruise on the loch, which is the largest body of fresh water in Great Britain.
This is looking down the loch toward Ben Lomond.
In the trees is the Auchendennan House, built in 1866. It stands on the site of King Robert the Bruce’s hunting lodge.
Inchmurrin, the largest of 24 islands in Loch Lomond. It is 1 mile by 1.5 miles in size, privately owned, and houses Scotland’s oldest official naturist club. That’s not birdwatchers, in case you were wondering. Other islands on the loch were home to illegal stills during the Napoleonic wars, when imported wine was hard to get. Landowners ignored the operations, since the smuggling provided their tenants with income.
Part of the marina where the cruise originated.
My favorite view, though I caught a bit of afternoon haze. I think I could get lost in those hills. How about you?
I’ll post more pictures from my trip now and again, so check back often!
