Here’s another snippet from HIGHLAND SEER. This snippet takes place the day following the visit to the distillery, in the evening. Enjoy!
When he opened the door, it was all he could do not to close it again in shock. The MacKyrie stood in the torchlit hallway. She gave him a quirk of her lips as he stared at her, too surprised to utter a word.
“I’m sorry to bother ye, Donal McNabb, but I wished to speak to ye privately.” She glanced away, down the darkened hallway.
“Privately? Why did ye no’ send for me, then?”
Her gaze returned to him, bold, even defiant, as she glanced over his shoulder. “May I come in?”
Donal’s eyes widened. Into his room?

He’s just so . . . sweet? Polite? Slightly clueless? I love him.
And she just doens’t have time for etiquette . . . I love her, too.
I had to chuckle at his surprise. I know for the time it would not deem proper for a lady to enter his chambers, but it still brought a smile to my lips. He’s sweet.
Because if she’s sent for you someone would know she was seeing you and it wouldn’t be private… *hands the poor man a clue*. Great snippet, though — he is so confused and shocked.
Oooh, nice snippet. Loved his surprise 🙂
I absolutely love how she caught him off guard. There’s something delicious about that!
Almost felt his shock when she asked to enter his room. 🙂
She alone with a man in his room? I love to out-guess the author, so I assume she’s enters his room, and gets more than she bargained for. Now I have to wait till next week to see what really happens. 🙂 With the risk of repeating myself, I love the lilt in the language. Very nice snippet.
She seems to be shaking poor Donal’s habit. I have a feeling that this is going to be fun.
Thanks for all the lovely comments!
