The last stops on my July trip were in Glasgow, Inverness, Orkney, Dundee, and Edinburgh, Scotland. I have too many pictures to share all at once, so check back here often for new views!
From the port of Glasgow, I headed for Ayr, one of the two areas in Scotland where Clan Blair came from. (The other is in the Highlands.) I visited the ruins of Dunure castle with its late Medieval beehive-shaped dovecote, then on to the magnificent Culzean (pronounced ki-LEEN) castle with it’s gorgeous views and gardens, saw Robert Burns’ birthplace near Ayr, and offshore, the domed rock where granite is mined for the stones used in the Olympic sport of curling. Can’t you just imagine sailing a birlinn in that bay in the last picture? I can!
