I’m thrilled to announce Heart of Stone (a Highland Talents prequel) is a finalist in the Novella category of the National Readers’ Choice Awards!
Winners in each category will be announced in July at RWA Nationals in NYC.
In the meantime, you can read Heart of Stone today. If you don’t have your copy yet, click here! And many, many thanks to all the readers who have supported this book! I love it. I hope you will, too.
Bound home after two years away, Gavan MacNabb comes across a lass and her deerhound in a moonlit circle of standing stones. Little does he know that the garland of bluebells she weaves and the spell she sings will change the course of his life.
Marsali Murray doesn’t really believe the old wives’ tale that making a chain of bluebells by the standing stones under a waxing moon will bring true love, but she’s desperate to try anything to escape the boring, everlasting sameness of her life. Anything except marrying a man her father chooses for her. When her deerhound, Corrie, insists on following Gavan, Marsali decides that’s the excuse she needs to have the adventure she craves. She’ll go where he goes, whether he is the man promised by her spell—or not.
Gavan has already seen much of the world denied to Marsali. He’s ready to settle down. She is eager to spread her wings. Can they find what they need with each other?
Now that we’re well into the year, how are you doing with those New Year’s Resolutions? I’ll share some I was sure I would keep…maybe.
Okay, well, they might work for you, if not this year, then next year.
Don’t make any resolutions. You never keep them anyway, so why are we still talking about this?
Pick one you can finish today. Put a check in the resolutions box. You did it! You kept one!
Pick one you know won’t come up until December, such as finding a holiday gift for weird uncle Al. Then you’ll have 11 months to do it or forget about it, which is nearly as good.
Give up something you like—but not too much—that’s bad for you. Love brownies? Not a good candidate. Only so-so about snickerdoodles? Perfect!
Give up something for a limited amount of time. I’m not sure I could give up chocolate or caramel for a week, but one day? Maybe. Five minutes? Sure.
Be a better/nicer/more generous/etc., person. Depending on your personality and inclinations, this could be easy or hard or both, so I’m putting it in the middle.
Finish that book! You know the one. You’ve been rewriting the first three chapters for the last six years.
Fill a 2016 Blessings jar. This one takes a bit of dedication, but the reward at the end of the year is worth it. Every time something wonderful, significant, happy, positive…you get the idea…happens, write it down on a slip of paper and put it in the jar. At the end of the year, read and recall each bright, shining moment—if you remembered to fill the jar throughout the year.
Get organized! Yes, this should be in a category labeled “Impossible” but I refuse to go there, so it goes here. Every year. My best advice? Start small and work up.
