SAPA! has taken in hundreds of homeless animals saved from the Houston floods and found foster homes to care for them until they can be placed in a new forever home.
From SAPA!’s website: So far, SAPA! has been involved in 4 journeys to areas hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey to provide relief to exhausted animal welfare workers and the animals who have been suffering. Trips to these areas haven’t been without difficulties, as SAPA! staff has encountered fuel shortages and roads blocked by high water. However, many more animals still need to be saved from the flood zones, and entire pet shelters are still at risk..The animals in Houston have found themselves out of options, just like the animals we save from the euthanasia kennels. We will be continuing our San Antonio operations as usual, but we are glad to be able to help Houston’s most vulnerable animal populations. Those who want to help have several options, including donating, fostering, volunteering, or bringing supplies.”
